EDMONTON — Six of Edmonton’s galleries in the 124 Street area are participating in this season’s gallery walk being held on April 16 and 17.

Matthew Hudon of West End Gallery said he anticipates the  area will be very busy this weekend, despite the less than  optimal weather.

“There’s a lot of people that come out,” said Hudon. “It’s really to highlight the arts in Edmonton.”

Hudon said the event put together by the Gallery Walk Association of Edmonton gives people a chance to see the art work and enjoy the 124th Street area all in one afternoon.

“Instead of just looking through the window, come through the doors and see what we have,” said Hudon.

It’s free to participate and no registration is required to join the event.

Those participating in the walk can earn one free admission to the Art Gallery of Alberta by getting their ‘Passport to Art’ stamped at a minimum of five of the six galleries.

The walk can be started from any of the six participating galleries: Agnes Bugera Gallery, Bearclaw Gallery, Peter Robertson Gallery, Scott Gallery, Snap Gallery, and West End Gallery.

Many of the galleries will have opening receptions for a new exhibit they’re displaying and some will even have the artist in attendance.
