Weather-watching an Edmonton pastime

EDMONTON — There is perhaps no greater subject of discussion in Edmonton than the weather. Whether it is too cold, or too hot, there never seems to be the right balance.

We had a flash of spring in mid-March. As spring appeared to begin, outdoor rinks started to melt and the hills became green. The days became longer, and Edmonton began to change.

Then April 5 brought with it a weather warning, and 10 to 15 centimetres of wet, heavy snow, toying with the emotions of everyone who had hoped for an early spring.

So let’s cast our minds back to a nice day in west Edmonton, as winter was on its way out and spring was seemingly in the air.

This is one moment in the Day in the Life of West Edmonton, a West Edmonton Local project conducted on March 12, 2012.
