EDMONTON — Almost every day of the week on Stony Plain Road, women walk into Rebel Hips Dance Studio and shake their booties for fitness.

At the studio at 14214 Stony Plain Rd. on a March evening, the beginner’s belly dancing class has just begun. Owner and instructor Stephanie Shideler leads the class.

“Here at Rebel Hips, students are of the utmost importance,” Shideler says.

Rebel Hips Studio opened its doors in 2010 and has been teaching women to shimmy and shake to the beat of Arabic dance, tribal fusion, hip hop in heels and zumba ever since.
