West Edmonton stabbing leaves one dead

EDMONTON — A 27-year-old man is dead after being stabbed to death at a west end party Saturday night.

An autopsy has confirmed that Chrysostom Caragay Marquez died from a stab wound after being transported to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a stabbing in a third-floor suite of the Baywood Apartments at 11514 132 St. around 10 p.m. after an alleged fight occurred between several men.

Police are continuing to investigate but currently have no suspects in custody.  They do, however, believe the victim knew his attackers.

This is Edmonton’s 37th homicide of 2011.
