Police charge man in west Edmonton shooting

EDMONTON — Edmonton police have laid charges against a man in connection with the city’s latest homicide.
Steven Laflamme, 24, has been charged with manslaughter, a firearms related offence and obstruction.
“Investigators received good co-operation from witnesses in an effort to gather information and evidence,” Staff Sgt. Dave Spiers of the EPS Homicide Section said in a statement released by police.
According to police, officers were called to the area of 177 Street and 81 Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival they found Laflamme’s 23-year-old roommate, Kyle Joy-Trussert, lying on the floor of their apartment walk-up suite with an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital where he later died from his injuries shortly before 11 a.m.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at 9:30 a.m.
Police are not seeking any additional suspects.
This is Edmonton’s 36th homicide of 2011.
