EDMONTON — The excitement at Galaxyland Amusement Park has been ‘amped up’. Literally.

‘Cosmic Revolution’ is the newest ride to be added to the West Edmonton Mall amusement park – with booming sound from the ride’s ten speakers, coupled with some serious speed – the ride offers a unique experience for thrill seekers.

West Edmonton Mall’s Galaxyland Amusement park has unveiled its latest attraction: the ‘Cosmic Revolution’ features ten speakers for maximum volume and a speed that is determined by the music DJ, who interacts with the riders throughout the ride. Photograph by Trevor Robb.

The ride features 12, two-passenger cars connected on an ‘undulating circular track’. Traveling both forwards and backwards at high speeds, the cars tip at an angle while in motion. The unique aspect of this new ride is that the speed of the ride is said to be determined by the ‘music and DJ-operator’, who ‘interacts with riders’.

Essentially, the louder you scream, the faster you go.

‘Cosmic Revolution’ was built by Moser’s Rides, an amusement park-ride manufacturer out of Italy. This latest addition to Galaxyland Amusement Park represents an investment of $700,000.

The ride was scheduled to open on Thursday, June 30, but due to mechanical issues the unveiling has been postponed. A later date is set to be announced, and on that date, all visitors will be able to ride ‘Cosmic Revolution’ for free, with the first 100 visitors receiving a free t-shirt.
