EDMONTON – The snow is finally gone!

With the sun finally coming out of hiding and the giant heaps of frozen ice running away as water, the people of Edmonton are finally able to step out of their homes and enjoy the great outdoors.

Bring out your bicycles, dust off your bocce ball set and make sure your skateboard or longboard is set for the new season. Don’t have a skateboard or a longboard? Why not check out Local 124 found on 124 Street and 107 Avenue?

Local 124 hosts a wide selection of longboards from a variety of companies, including the Canadian-made Landyatchz and Rayne boards.

They also sell a variety of clothing and riding safety gear, plus the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about boards and riding.

Their website helps riders out with a variety of links, Edmonton skate-event listings and related information.

Their website also connects people to the World Skate Map, where users all over the globe log on and map their favourite riding spots and trails. They are then categorized under Downhill (over 35 mph), Downhill (under 35 mph), LDP (Long Distance Pumping), Mixed (Pleasure Cruise), Parkade, Pool, Skatepark, Slalom, Sliding and Street Spots.

Whether or not you seek the thrill of the skate, seeing longboarders hit the streets offers a sure sign of an approaching summer season.
