Water spray park to open in Callingwood
By Katrine Sorensen
EDMONTON — West Edmonton residents can start getting their swimsuits ready for the summer.
A new water spray park is set to open at the beginning of July as a part of an existing park area in Callingwood.
The project is a joint effort of nine local community leagues and the city, with funding from federal and provincial governments.
Susan Meunier with City of Edmonton says the spray park was originally set to open in July last year, but was delayed while waiting for the last grant money.
Meunier said about 90 per cent of the spray park was installed last fall. This spring, construction crews will be installing the last park furniture and fixing a few minor defects with the equipment.
The spray park is bordering up to a newly-built skate park that opened behind Callingwood Recreation Centre and Lois Hole Library in August 2009.
Meunier expects the spray park will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, with city staff on site from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A grand opening of the spray park is expected to take place around August.

This is awesome! I have two boys that will throughly enjoy this! Another reasn to love Edmonton!
