EDMONTON – Alberta Women Entrepreneurs is holding an interactive workshop at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton on Thursday, Apr. 7 titled, “Followers, Fans, and Connections…Now What? Making the Most of Social Media”.

Marketing coordinator Jennifer Hughes says that this event is part of a new series.

“We have kind of always been known as just doing start up workshops and wanted to start a growth series.” Hughes said.

Though the majority of attendees will already have a Facebook fan page, a Twitter account, and a LinkedIn profile for their business, the guests will be looking to speaker Shauna McConechy, president of Out Enterprises Inc., to provide insight on how to properly use these tools to leverage and grow their business.

McConechy has been holding workshops and presentations for two years and says that this interactive and conversational approach works best to cater to all aptitudes of attendees.

“It is different for everyone, for every business,” says McConechy.

She will break down the anatomy of what social media is, how it functions, and how individual businesses can best utilize these tools.

The workshop is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will focus specifically on the following:

  • Expanding customer base
  • Enhance marketing plans with social media
  • Building a stronger competitive advantage

The workshop cost is $45 and is not limited to women entrepreneurs. The event is open to the public, and would be beneficial for anyone in business says Hughes.
